Jokers are powerful, but they can also make beginners lazy. A joker should solve the biggest problem in your hand, not simply complete the first group you notice. Smart joker use begins after you understand your pure sequence route.
Do Not Waste Jokers on Pure Sequences
A pure sequence cannot use a joker as a substitute. If you rely on a joker too early, you may delay the one group your valid declaration needs most. First build a natural sequence, then place jokers where they save the most turns.
Use Jokers to Fill Hard Gaps
A missing middle card can block a sequence for many turns. For example, 5 and 7 of the same suit need a 6. If that gap is hard to fill and the rest of your hand is moving well, a joker can make the group useful faster.
Complete Sets When They Reduce Risk
Sometimes a joker is better used in a set, especially when it helps you group high-value cards. Turning two kings into a set with a joker may reduce your point risk and clean up your hand.
Ask One Question
Before placing a joker, ask: does this move bring me closer to a valid declaration, or does it only make the hand look neat? The best joker move usually creates real declaration progress.
Use jokers with purpose. They are strongest when they remove the hardest obstacle in your hand.
